Hey all,
Went on a 20 km road march yesterday morning, sponsored by the Danish Battalion (hence the name "DanCon March"). Everyone had to carry 15 kg of equipment as well as usual kit (weapon, uniform, boots, etc.), so it wasn't like a run, more like a fast march.
I finished in 2 hours 56 minutes, when you discount the one hour we had to stop after an alarm, and thus got a DanCon March medal and a neat certificate... oh, and also a couple of huge blisters (sigh). I thought it was pretty good timing for an old sailor though.
I marched with a team of Brits, though 3 of the 4 quickly passed out of sight, and Kay -- the only woman in the march -- finished in 2 hours 28 minutes, while the tall guy Mark finished in 2 hours 14 minutes. The Dane who won finished in 1 hour 58 minutes. He was in the shower when the attack alarm went off, heh.
The other two guys -- Luke and Q -- were slow like me, and we're all hobbling today.
Take care,
Tim
