Journal of a Brown Sand Sailor
Timothy L. Francis

9/9/06 Basrah, Iraq

Just wanted to use this slow moment while on watch -- because clearly I have no social life, spending a Saturday night at work (sigh) -- to say thank you to all the people who've sent me books and/or coffee, etc. over the last few months. It has been much appreciated by me, and the coffee at least has been appreciated by the Brits at work (I refer to it as my lend-lease shipments and badger them about repayment when I'm feeling irritable).

I want to repeat that I do *NOT* require any more non-dairy creamer, I've got enough "Coffee Mate" (TM) to sink a cargo ship.

Coffee, on the other hand, is always useful, even if it is boring for me to keep asking for it, I agree. But I am not in dire need of it, with 5-6 pounds in reserve (!).

So, at the moment I don't need much of anything, well anything that can be shipped in a box to Iraq that is.

In other news, we suspect it is actually getting cooler here during the day -- the heat is not quite so oppressive, though it is still unpleasant standing out in the midday sun.

Take care and have a good September.

Fair Winds and Following Sands!
